whoops

I was making cheese sauce for DS2's lunchtime macaroni and cheese (no little blue boxes of powdered cheese in this house!) and I managed to spill it everywhere as I was attempting to put it back into the microwave for a second round of cheese melting. Since our microwave is over our stove, you can imagine the mess.

Things I am grateful for:
1) I was using a Rubbermaid container so when I whacked it, it didn't break (nor did it break when it bounced off the stove onto the floor).
2) Only a little of the very-hot milk-and-cheese mixture splashed onto me, and only a very little bit splashed onto my skin.
3) None of the spilled sauce went under the stove or refrigerator.
4) None of the important papers on the refrigerator or counter got splashed.

Needless to say, I worked hard coming up with that list. I think it took me about 15 minutes to get everything cleaned up, and by the time I was finishing, I was chipping re-congealed cheese off the stovetop.

Just now, I was getting a glass of water and spilled about a third of it over the counter. Miraculously, none of it landed on the papers piled all over the place, nor were my supplements drenched.

I think some karmic force is at work here, because even when there are catastrophes lately, I can take one look and easily see how it could've been worse. Like last night, the cat missed her box but the pee just puddled up in the grout near it, and none of it ran under the washing machine, or even the hampers nearby. Yeah, it was a mess, but it wasn't that big a deal.

After the cheese-sauce-shower incident, I think I have to admit that I'm responsible for the most spectacular messes around here. I do think that one is among the worst, although I'll still peg the exploding soda can as the number one non-bodily-fluid-related mess ever created in this house!

The house is starting to really getting on my nerves because everything needs to be cleaned... I don't feel like doing it when everyone is around, and by the time everyone is abed, I'm exhausted. Maybe tomorrow...
