...
Well, I was up until 3AM and then slept in till 10:15, which I suppose is a good thing because otherwise I'd be absolutely dead. I still don't feel particularly perky, anyway. I cam downstairs and got the cheesecake stuff out of the fridge, so it would be ready to assemble after I had some breakfast. The I returned the movies to Blockbuster -- Seabiscuit, and The Endurance, both of which I recommend. Then I got home and was piddling around clearing off the counter and stuff when my sister called, which kinda threw off my schedule but I didn't really care because I was just not in the mood to cook!
We had a good talk about our New Years and all the things that have been going on family-wise, but I should've got off the phone sooner -- I didn't end up getting the cheesecake into the oven until 1, and since it has to bake for 2 hours, I'll be pulling it out of the oven about 20 minutes before we need to leave for our friends' house! That's OK, it will have plenty of time to chill before dinner, right?
I ended up making DC's pecan praline crust, and Doggy's eggnog cheesecake. OMG, the batter was the most delicious thing I've tasted in eons. I hope the pecan crust (yummy by itself) works out OK and tastes good. I can't remember the last time (if ever?) I made a cheesecake with a crust. It really adds a whole extra layer of fuss and bother to the whole process. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that it's tasty.
OK, now I have to stop being a slug and get out of my sweats and into some real clothes and get kids out of pjs... no one really wants to do anything much today, but I know we'll have fun once we get over to our friends'. They have 4 boys all around our kids' ages, and generally the kids get along well. Hopefully that will hold true today, too!
Poor DD, for the 3rd day in a row I have had to tell her she has to change out of her fairy costume. She got it for her 4th birthday and pretty much ignored it, until she recently rediscovered it. It's pink with a tulle skirt with a "petal" skirt overlaying the tulle, and it has a ruched(?) bodice (you know, that stretchy/puffy thing they do to satin), and wire & tulle wings in the back. It also has little pink fabric flowers applique'd all over it. It's completely adorable, but she can't wear it in the car; the carseat will mangle the wings. She's off assembling a new outfit upstairs -- wonder what she'll come up with today? It's always an adventure.
